Why Tutor
Please consider becoming a tutor for VEP and helping make a difference in someone's life! You will make a remarkable contribution to the lives of an immigrant or refugee in Chester County. Teach a student the English they need to ask for information, for help for their family, and much more!

To become involved in this gratifying experience, call Sandy or Carol at 610-918-8222, or email us at volunteer.english@verizon.net.  VEP offers tutor training by experienced program directors. The VEP staff and Board of Directors extend our sincere thanks to all tutors.

Linda Grosse, Executive Director
Primary duties include development and program administration.
You will probably talk to her on the phone at some point since she is the only fulltime person on staff.

Carol Klauss, Program Director
Primary duties include direct interaction with tutors and students, including tutor training.
She is VEP’s unofficial historian, possessing an amazing knack for remembering and pronouncing students’ names.   More on Staff...
VEP serves a growing population of adult immigrants and refugees in the Philadelphia area with one-to-one tutoring in English language skills and American culture understanding. In order to survive and participate in their new country, newcomers desperately need to communicate in English and understand American customs. Since 1986, VEP has helped thousands of America’s most vulnerable newcomers learn English.
For individuals who want to make a difference, volunteering has given opportunities to make a direct, immediate, and positive impact on the lives of people in need. The evidence is overwhelming that community volunteers have been effective in providing needed services that the government cannot afford to offer, and volunteers have reaped the rewards of building personal relationships with those they serve.
